On Wednesday night, Mat Latos will make his third start of the season for the Cincinnati Reds and will be hoping to pick up his first win when he faces Edwin Jackson and the Chicago Cubs.

Big right-hander Mat Latos pitched against the Toronto Blue Jays last Friday and ended up with a no decision after allowing five runs in 5.2 innings of work. He gave up nine hits in that outing and walked three batters while striking out two. Through two starts, Latos has yet to pick up a decision and he has a 3.86 ERA.

Veteran Nate Schierholtz has gone up against Latos more than any of the other Cubs, but he has just six hits against him in 30 at-bats with six strikeouts. None of the Cubs have been able to hit a home run off of him.

Veteran starter Edwin Jackson won his fifth game of the season last week against the Pittsburgh Pirates at home. He pitched five innings in that start and gave up three earned runs on five hits while walking two batters and striking out eight. Through 15 starts, Latos is 5-7 with a 5.12 ERA and he has struck out 83 batters in 84.1 innings of work.

Reds first baseman Joey Votto has eight hits in 21 at-bats versus Jackson with three doubles, two home runs and two RBI.
