This interleague showdown between the Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds will take place from Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Wednesday. The first place Orioles will send right-hander Miguel Gonzalez (7-7) to the mound to take on the Reds and Dylan Axelrod (1-0).

Sitting comfortably atop the American League East, the Orioles will be looking to get into the playoff groove throughout the month and it begins for them in this series. Gonzalez suffered through some early-season woes, but has turned it around to the point where he has seen his ERA nearly a full point in his last 10 starts. In his last 10 starts, he has allowed more than 3 earned runs just once and is quickly becoming one of the most reliable arms in the rotation for Buck Showalter. He has only faced 2 members of the Reds roster in his career, allowing 1 hit to Jack Hannahan in 3 at-bats and striking out Ramon Santiago in his only official at-bat.

Axelrod will be making just the third start of his big league career. He made his Major League Baseball debut on August 17, striking out 7 Colorado Rockies in a no-decision and registered the first win of his career after throwing 5 shutout innings against the Chicago Cubs with 8 strikeouts. In that start against the Cubs, he allowed just 2 hits and will look to continue his success against a tough lineup featuring Adam Jones, Nelson Cruz, Chris Davis, and Nick Markakis.
