Chicago White Sox - Sale (6-1, 2.27 ERA) vs. Toronto Blue Jays - Stroman (4-2, 4.25 ERA)

Saturday afternoon, the Chicago White Sox will give the ball to Chris Sale as they square off against the Toronto Blue Jays and Marcus Stroman.  Sale will be making his 12th start as Stroman makes his 6th start and 11th appearance.

Chris Sale pitched to a no-decision in his last outing and that held his record at 6 - 1 with a 2.27 ERA.  In that start, Sale had a “bend but not break” outing as he allowed just 2 runs on a season-high 11 hits (including a homer).  He walked a batter while striking out a season-low 3.  If Sale can get his control in check he could easily improve on last year’s results of an 11- 14 record and a 3.07 ERA in 30 starts.

In 2013, Sale lost his only start against Toronto after allowing 3 runs and 4 hits in 7 innings. But overall, he has been solid against the Blue Jay lineup, holding them to a .143 average with 4 hits, a homer and 3 RBIs in 28 at-bats.

Marcus Stroman boosted his record to 4 – 2 with a 4.25 ERA after getting the win his last time out. In that outing, Stroman surrendered just a run (on a solo homer) and 3 hits in 8 innings of work.  He walked 1 while striking out 7.  Stroman seems to be having a decent rookie campaign as he approaches the midway point of the season.  If he can continue to give Toronto some solid innings, it will be a rousing success.

Without any experience against the White Sox to draw on, Stroman will have to rely on the rest of the pitching staff and the scouting report.
