On Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox will face off with the Oakland Athletics in the final game of a three game series in Oakland. The White Sox will send young right hander Andre Rienzo to the mound to face Tommy Milone for the Athletics.

Rienzo has pitched well this season coming into this game with a 3-0 record with a 4.56 ERA. In his last start against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Rienzo pitched 5.2 innings while giving up three runs on four hits, striking out three and walking two. He wasn’t very efficient as he threw 104 pitches over the 5.2 innings but was able to get the win behind a strong offensive performance by the White Sox. This will be Rienzo’s first time facing Oakland which should be an advantage this early in the season.

Tommy Milone is coming off an excellent start in which he earned his first win of the year. Milone pitched eight strong innings against the Washington Nationals giving up no runs and only two hits while striking out seven and walking three. The win brought Milone’s record to 1-3 and lowered his ERA to 4.54. It was a move in the right direction for a pitcher that has been underwhelming for the season thus far.

The matchup with Chicago could be good for Milone as he has pitched well against the White Sox. Milone has held current Chicago hitters to a .224 average with only 11 hits on 49 at bats. He’s struck out nine of those batters and will look to continue where he left off when he takes the mound.
