Friday night, the Chicago White Sox will take the field behind John Danks (9 – 8, 4.95 ERA) as they take on the New York Yankees and Shane Greene (3 – 1, 2.91 ERA).  Danks makes his 26th start as Greene makes his 8th start and 9th appearance.

John Danks pitched to a no-decision in his last start after allowing 3 runs and 7 hits in 6 innings of work.  He didn’t strike out a single batter as he walked 1.  Danks has had issues as of late with surrendering runs and his record shows.  In his last 10 starts, Danks has allowed 3 or more runs 7 times en route to a 3 – 2 record.  Last season, Danks posted a record of 4 – 14 with a 4.75 ERA in 22 starts.

In 2013, Danks didn’t face the Yankees but he had a start against them earlier this season.  In that outing, Danks missed getting the decision despite pitching 8 innings of shutout ball.

Shane Greene had a decent effort on his last trip to the mound but he still didn’t get the decision.  In 6 innings of work, Greene allowed 2 runs and 7 hits while walking a batter and striking out a season-high 10.  Greene has been a solid addition to the injury depleted Yankees’ starting rotation since rejoining the team from Triple-A in July.

The rookie righty has never faced the White Sox but if he brings the same stuff to this start that he has to his other 7, he will have a shot at a win.
