Chris Sale (12-3), who has a 1.33 ERA in his last four outings, will make the start for the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night when they face second-year starter Yordano Ventura (12-10) and the Kansas City Royals.

Last Thursday, Chris Sale had one of his best starts of the year when he beat the Oakland Athletics at home. He pitched eight shutout innings in that game and allowed just two hits while striking out nine batters and walking two. Sale's ERA is now down to an excellent 1.99 after that win and he has struck out a league-leading 10.6 batters per nine innings this season.

Royals designated hitter Billy Butler is 14-for-39 against Sale in his career with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI. First baseman Eric Hosmer is just 6-for-28 against him with no walks and eight strikeouts.

Yordano Ventura pitched seven innings against the Boston Red Sox last Friday and ended up taking the loss. He gave up four runs (three earned) in that start and struck out six hitters while walking one. Ventura currently owns a 3.27 ERA and he has struck out 7.6 batters per nine innings this year.

White Sox third baseman Conor Gillaspie has two hits in four at-bats against Ventura in his career with a walk and a triple. Adam Eaton is 1-for-3 against him in his career with a double and a strikeout.
