On Monday night, John Danks (9-11) will attempt to snap his current three-game losing streak when he and the Chicago White Sox face James Shields (14-7) and the Kansas City Royals.

In his last start, John Danks gave up four runs (two earned) in six innings of work against the Oakland Athletics and took the loss. He allowed seven hits in that start and walked one batter while striking out three. Danks now has a 5.05 ERA on the year and he has given up 10.1 hits per nine innings, which is his worst rate since his rookie season.

Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer has seven hits in 14 at-bats versus Danks with two walks and an RBI. Billy Butler is just 7-for-34 against him in his career with no walks and nine strikeouts.

James Shields won his second game in a row last Wednesday when he beat the Detroit Tigers on the road. He pitched seven shutout innings in that game and gave up just two hits while walking one and striking out eight. He now has a 3.13 ERA on the season and he has only walked 41 batters in 207.1 innings.

White Sox shortstop Alexei Ramirez is 21-for-51 against Shields in his career with a double, a triple, two home runs and six RBI. Veteran Paul Konerko is just 6-for-38 against him with six walks and 11 strikeouts.
