Tuesday night, Scott Carroll (5 -10, 5.01 ERA) takes his turn for the Chicago White Sox as they take on David Price (14 -12, 3.37 ERA) and the Detroit Tigers.   Carroll will make his 19th start and 25th appearance as Price makes his 33rd start. 

Scott Carroll escaped with a no-decision in his last start after allowing 4 runs and 4 hits (including a homer) through 5 innings of work.  He walked 2 and struck out 2.  Carroll has had a rough time as of late and hasn’t had a win since mid-August.  He has allowed 2 or fewer runs in just 3 of his last 10 appearances. In those 10 appearances, he is just 2 - 5.         

In late August, Carroll faced the Tigers for the 1st time and it wasn’t pretty.  Carroll took the loss after allowing 7 runs and 10 hits in just 5 innings of work.

David Price was roughed up in his last start and ended up taking the loss.  Price gave up 5 runs and 8 hits in just 5.2 innings as he walked 3 and struck out 5.  Since coming over to the Tigers from the Tampa Bay Rays, Price has been up and down.  He is 3 -4 in his 9 starts for Detroit and 3 – 5 in his last 10 starts overall. Last season, Price was 10 – 8 with a 3.33 ERA in 27 starts for the Rays.

Last season, Price was 2 – 0 with a 2.25 ERA in 2 starts against Chicago.  Earlier this season, Price lost to the White Sox after allowing 8 runs and 9 hits (including a homer) in just 6 innings.
