On Thursday afternoon, left-hander John Danks (9-6) will attempt to extend his undefeated streak to seven games when he and the Chicago White Sox take on Drew Smyly (6-9) and the Detroit Tigers.

Last Friday, John Danks pitched seven innings against the Minnesota Twins on the road and was able to pick up his ninth win of the year. He allowed four runs on six hits in that game and walked no one while striking out five. Danks has a 4.40 ERA this season and his 3.2 walks per nine innings is almost double his rate from 2013.

Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter has 15 hits in his 49 at-bats versus Danks with two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI. Victor Martinez also has hit three home runs off of Danks, but he is batting just .208 overall against him.

Drew Smyly pitched pretty well against the Los Angeles Angels last week, but he still ended up taking the loss in that game. He went 5.2 innings against the Angels and allowed two runs on four hits while striking out a season-high 11 batters and walked one. Smyly has a 3.77 ERA and has struck out 87 batters ion 100.1 innings this year.

White Sox veteran Paul Konerko has six hits in his nine plate appearances against Smyly with a solo home run. Alejandro De Aza is just 1-for-9 against him with three strikeouts.
