Lefty Chris Sale will be going for his ninth win of the season when he and the Chicago White Sox face Rubby De La Rosa and the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.

Chris Sale pitched a complete game against the Seattle Mariners in his last start and came away with his eighth win of the year. In those nine innings of work, Sale gave up just one run on six hits while striking out a season-high 12 batters and walking no one. Through 13 starts, he has an 8-1 record with a 2.16 ERA and he has struck out 96 batters in 87.1 innings.

Red Sox veteran Jonny Gomes has hit a home run off of Sale, but that is the only hit he has gotten off of him in nine at-bats. Xander Bogaerts is 1-for-2 against the left-hander with a solo home run.

Rubby De La Rosa last made a start for the Red Sox back on June 21 when he pitched seven solid innings against the Oakland Athletics on the road. He gave up just one run in that outing and walked one while striking out seven. Through five starts, De La Rosa is 2-2 with a 2.51 ERA and he has struck out 30 hitters in 32.1 innings. He has held left-handed hitters to a .172 batting average in 58 at-bats.

The White Sox will be facing De La Rosa for the first time on Wednesday night.
