28-year-old Jake Arrieta will be on the mound for the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night when they face early Cy Young candidate Adam Wainwright and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jake Arrieta made his second start of the season last Thursday and he ended up picking up a no decision after only going four innings in that game. In the outing, Arrieta gave up four runs (three earned) and struck out one while walking one. He's now pitched a total of 9.1 innings on the season and has a 2.89 ERA.

Mark Ellis has just one hit against Arrieta in five at-bats, but he also has three walks and three RBI against him. Veteran Jhonny Peralta has four hits in eight at-bats against the right-hander with two doubles.

Adam Wainwright was able to get his sixth win of the season last week against the Atlanta Braves by pitching eight strong innings. He gave up just one run in that game on six hits while striking out six and only walking one. His ERA is now down to 2.02 on the year and he has given up just 40 hits in 58 innings.

Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro has done pretty well against Wainwright in their matchups by going 9-for-31 with a double, a triple and four RBI. John Baker has just one hit in 10 career at-bats against Wainwright.
