The Chicago Cubs will travel to AT&T Park to face the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday, May 28, in the final meeting of a three game series. The Cubs will put Edwin Jackson on the mound to duel with the Giants’ Tim Lincecum.

Edwin Jackson is coming off his worst performance of the season as he gave up eight earned runs on nine hits over four innings to the San Diego Padres. He allowed two home runs and walked two. The loss put Jackson’s record at 3-4 on the season and raised his ERA almost a full point to 4.94. It started off bad for Jackson as he gave up four runs in the first inning. Jackson has given up 23 runs over the first two innings in each of his starts. His next start can’t come fast enough as Jackson is going to want to put this outing out of his mind as soon as possible.

Next up for Jackson are the Giants who are hitting .313 against him. Jackson will need to be extremely careful when facing Pablo Sandoval who is 7-for-13 in his career against Jackson with a home run and five RBIs.

Tim Lincecum will be coming off of his fourth win of the season when he pitches on Wednesday. On Friday night, Lincecum gave up two earned runs on five hits over six innings in the win over the Minnesota Twins. It was an ugly win as Lincecum struggled with his command all night and walked six batters while striking out four. The win put Lincecum’s record at 4-3 on the season with a 4.55 ERA. He’ll hope to add to his win total when he faces the last place Chicago Cubs.
