Left-hander Travis Wood will be on the mound for the Chicago Cubs on Saturday when they go up against Donn Roach and the San Diego Padres.

Travis Wood won for the fourth time in 2014 by defeating the Milwaukee Brewers last Sunday at home. He pitched seven strong innings in that outing and allowed just two runs on two hits while walking three and striking out seven. Wood is now 4-4 on the season and has struck out 51 hitters in 54.2 innings pitched.

Padres third baseman Chase Headley has been the most successful on his team against Wood by getting six hits in 15 at-bats, including two home runs and four RBI. Nick Hundley has just two hits in nine at-bats against the lefty.

Right-hander Donn Roach made a spot start for the Padres last Sunday against the Colorado Rockies and ended up with a no decision after getting through three innings in the game. He allowed four runs in the game on four hits while walking two and striking out no one. Through 24 innings this season, Roach has a 3.75 ERA and has 13 strikeouts.

Roach will be facing all of the Cubs' hitters for the first time in his career on Saturday night. They can expect to see a fair helping of his 90 mph fastball, which he throws nearly 70 percent of the time.
