On Wednesday night, Dallas Beeler will be making his second career start for the Chicago Cubs when they take on 11-game winner Alfredo Simon and the Cincinnati Reds.

Dallas Beeler made his first Major League start back on June 28 against the Nationals and ended up taking the loss despite pitching very well in the game. In that start, he pitched six strong innings and gave up just one unearned run on four hits while walking three and striking out six. He threw 54 of his 91 pitches for strikes in that outing and induced 10 ground balls.

The Cubs' hitter will be facing Beeler for the first time on Wednesday and should expect to see a 91-93 mph fastball and an 80 mph curveball from the right-hander.

Alfredo Simon, who hasn't lost a game since May 10, came away with his 11th win of the season last Friday over the Milwaukee Brewers. He pitched 7.1 innings in that outing and gave up just two runs on six hits while walking two and striking out three. Through 17 starts, Simon has an 11-3 record with a 2.78 ERA and he has only given up 90 hits in 110 innings of work.

Cubs infielder Luis Valbuena has three hits in eight at-bats against Simon in his career with a double, a home run and three RBI. Ryan Sweeney has just one hit against him in 13 at-bats with two walks and two strikeouts.
