Lefty Travis Wood will be on the mound for the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night and will be facing 25-year-old Brandon Workman and the Boston Red Sox.

In his last start, Travis Wood ended up with a no decision after pitching 6.2 innings against the Washington Nationals. He allowed three earned runs on seven hits in that game while striking out four and matching his season-high in walks with five. Through 16 starts, Wood is 7-6 with a 4.52 ERA and he has only given up nine home runs in 95.2 innings this season.

Red Sox backup third baseman Brock Holt has just one hit in five at-bats against Wood in his career with a single and three strikeouts. Shortstop Stephen Drew is 1-for-4 against him with a double and an RBI.

Second-year starter Brandon Workman ended up losing for the first time this season when he was beaten by the New York Yankees on the road last week. He pitched seven innings in that outing and allowed four earned runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out five. On the year, Workman is 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA and he has only given up 30 hits in 41.1 innings.

The Cubs will be going up against Workman for the first time on Wednesday night. So far this season, right-handed hitters are hitting just .182 against him.
