Right-hander Edwin Jackson will be looking to pick up his sixth win of the year for the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night when he faces Clay Buchholz and the Boston Red Sox.

Edwin Jackson lost for the eighth time this season last week against the Cincinnati Reds after giving up four earned runs in 5.1 innings. He allowed six hits in that outing and walked four while striking out two. Jackson is now 5-8 and has struck out 85 batters in 89.2 innings, but he has also given up 97 hits.

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz has nine hits in his 20 at-bats versus Jackson with two doubles, two home runs and eight RBI. Mike Napoli has just one hit against him in nine at-bats and he has been struck out four times.

In his last start, Clay Buchholz was able to defeat the Seattle Mariners on the road to pick up his third win of the year. He went 7.1 innings in that game and allowed four runs on seven hits while walking no one and striking out two. Buchholz has given up 82 hits in 57.1 innings this season and currently has a very high 6.75 ERA.

Cubs outfielder Ryan Sweeney has two hits in his six plate appearances against Buchholz with two doubles and no strikeouts. Luis Valbuena is only 1-for-5 against him, but that one hit was a home run.
