Chicago Cubs starter Jake Arrieta will attempt to win his fourth straight game on Monday night when he faces veteran Jake Peavy and the Boston Red Sox.

Last Tuesday, Jake Arrieta was able to win his fourth game of the year by beating the Cincinnati Reds at home. He pitched seven strong innings in that game and allowed just two runs on three hits while striking out nine batters and walking no one. Arrieta has been very good for the Cubs this season, going 4-1 through 10 starts and he has struck out 64 batters in 57 innings of work.

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia has four hits in his 13 at-bats against Arrieta with a home run and three RBI. Catcher A.J. Pierzynski is 4-for-5 against him in his career with two home runs and three RBI.

Right-hander Jake Peavy had a rough outing against the Seattle Mariners last week and ended up suffering his sixth loss of the year. He pitched five innings in that start and allowed a season-high seven earned runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking two. He is now 1-6 through 16 starts and his walk rate is the worst that it has been since early in his career.

Cubs infielder Luis Valbuena will probably be in the lineup on Monday because he is 6-for-13 against Peavy in his career with two doubles and an RBI.
