Travis Wood will attempt to win his first game since mid-June when he and the Chicago Cubs face Wade Miley and the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night.

Left-hander Travis Wood matched his season-high in runs given up last week against the Atlanta Braves and lost for the eighth time on the year. He allowed seven runs in six innings in that start while striking out four batters and walking three. Wood is 7-8 with a 4.96 ERA this season and he has given up 117 hits in 110.2 innings.

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt is 3-for-5 against Wood in his career with a walk and no strikeouts, while second baseman Aaron Hill is just 1-for-6 against him with an RBI and a strikeout.

Wade Miley pitched seven shutout innings against the San Francisco Giants last week and was able to win his fifth game of the year. He allowed four hits in that start and struck out four batters while walking three. Miley has struck out 118 batters in 127 innings this season and he has only walked 2.7 batters per nine innings.

Justin Ruggiano is the only player on the Cubs who has been able to hit a home run off of Miley, but that is the only hit he has gotten off of the left-hander in seven at-bats. Infielder Darwin Barney has three hits in eight at-bats against Miley with a double and an RBI.
