On Sunday afternoon, Jake Peavy will go for just his second win of the year when he and the Boston Red Sox take on Chris Archer and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jake Peavy lost his second consecutive game last Tuesday when he was beaten by the Toronto Blue Jays on the road. He went 6.1 innings in that start and gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters and walking three. Part of the reason why Peavy is just 1-9 this season is because he has only received 3.05 runs per nine innings from his offense in his starts.

Rays first baseman James Loney has 10 hits in his 36 at-bats against Peavy with five doubles, two home runs and five RBI. Yunel Escobar, on the other hand, is just 1-for-14 against the right-hander.

Chris Archer pitched well in his start against the Minnesota Twins last Sunday and picked up his sixth win of the season. He went 6.1 innings in that start and gave up three runs (one earned) on six hits while walking two and striking out four. Archer is now 6-5 on the year with a 3.31 ERA and he has only given up five home runs on 119.2 innings.

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is just 1-for-10 against Archer in his career with three walks and four strikeouts. Designated hitter David Ortiz is 4-for-9 against him with two walks and five RBI.
