Jake Peavy will attempt to pick up his first win since back on April 25 when the Boston Red Sox go up against 24-year-old Erasmo Ramirez and the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.

Jake Peavy made his 15th start of the year last week against the Oakland Athletics and ended up losing for the fifth time this year. He went 6.1 innings in that start and allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits while walking three and striking out four. He now has a 1-5 record and he has given up 98 hits in 93.2 innings of work.

Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano has done very well against Peavy over the years, going 5-for-12 against him with two doubles, a home run and four RBI. Endy Chavez is 5-for-14 against him with a double, a triple and an RBI.

Third-year starter Erasmo Ramirez picked up his fourth consecutive no decision last week after pitching six scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres on the road. He allowed just two hits in that outing and walked two while striking out three. Ramirez is 1-4 this year and has not been able to win a game since his very first start back on April 1.

Red Sox shortstop Stephen Drew has no hits in three at-bats against Ramirez with a walk and three strikeouts. A.J. Pierzynski is 1-for-5 against Ramirez and is the only player on the Red Sox who has been able to get an extra-base hit off of him.
