Arguably the biggest rivalry in all of sports will see the Boston Red Sox travel to The Bronx to take on the New York Yankees from Yankee Stadium. The visiting Red Sox will send right-hander Anthony Ranaudo (3-0) to the mound to take on veteran Japanese right-hander Hiroki Kuroda (9-8).

The Red Sox recently called up the rookie Ranaudo and the team has to be impressed with what he has done thus far. He has made 3 starts and has gone 3-0 with a 4.50 ERA. While his ERA isn't great, he has lasted 6 innings in every start, which is always beneficial to a team down the stretch regardless of their standing in terms of playoff chances. He is averaging 93.7 pitches per start and has a strikeout to walk ratio of just 8:9, so it may only be a matter of time before he suffers through a defeat. In his Major League Baseball debut, he defeated the Yankees and held them to just 4 hits including 2 hits and a home run to Carlos Beltran.

For the Yankees, the experienced Kuroda will attempt to get his third straight victory. Since the start of July, Kuroda has seen his ERA drop from 4.23 to 3.80 and has allowed more than 3 earned runs in a start just twice. He is just 4-3 during that time, but has pitched well enough in all 11 starts in that time span to get the victory.
