Tuesday night, the Boston Red Sox will give the ball to Felix Doubront as they take on the Minnesota Twins and Ricky Nolasco.  Both pitchers will be making their 8th trips to the hill. 

Felix Doubront comes into this one after pitching to 2 straight no decisions that left his record at 1 – 3 as his ERA dropped to 5.09.  In his last start, Doubront went 5.1 innings and allowed just a run on 5 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.  But Doubront had thrown 97 pitches by that point and that was way too much for just 5.1 innings.  Last season, Doubront went 11 - 6 with an ERA of 4.32 in 27 starts and 2 relief appearances.

In 2013, Doubront lost his only start against the Twins after getting shelled for 6 runs on 11 hits in just 5.1 innings of work.   And he has had trouble against the Minnesota lineup in his career.  Eduardo Nunez is 5 of 10 with 2 triples and an RBI against Doubront. 

Rickey Nolasco allowed 3 runs on 6 hits (including a home run) in 6 innings as he allowed a walk and struck out 9 in his last start.  But he didn’t get the decision and that left his record at 2 - 3 with a 5.64 ERA.    In 2013, Nolasco split the season with the Miami Marlins and the Los Angeles Dodgers as he compiled a 13 -11 record with a 3.70 ERA in 33 starts and a relief appearance.

Last season, Nolasco won his only start against the Red Sox after pitching 8 innings of scoreless baseball and allowing just 2 hits while striking out 6.  Overall, the Red Sox are batting just .198 against Nolasco with just 16 hits and 4 RBIs in 81 at-bats.
