The final game of the series between the Kansas City Royals and Boston Red Sox will be held on Sunday afternoon. The Red Sox will turn to right-hander Joe Kelly (1-2) to take on the Royals and left-hander Jason Vargas (11-8).

Kelly, who started the season with the St. Louis Cardinals will be making his 8^th start for the Red Sox and will hope to improve his record with the team to 2-2 and 4-4 overall this season. Kelly has been walking a lot of batters since joining the Red Sox, allowing 25 batters to move to first base in 41 innings. He has also recorded 30 strikeouts with the Red Sox and while he gives a lot of free bases away, has been a tough pitcher to hit. The opposition is hitting just .210 against him. This season, Vargas has been one of the most consistent arms in the Kansas City starting rotation. In his past 10 starts, he has gone 4-5 but his ERA has actually dropped in that time. It is currently at 3.25 and he will be coming into this start having gone 1-3 in his previous 4 starts. In his last start, a 4-2 loss to the Detroit Tigers, he went 5.1 innings with 4 earned runs allowed on 6 hits and 3 walks with 6 strikeouts.
