On Sunday afternoon, Clay Buchholz will look to finish his first half with a win when he and the Boston Red Sox take on Jarred Cosart and the Houston Astros.

Last Monday, Clay Buchholz pitched seven innings against the Chicago White Sox, but he ended up suffering his fifth loss of the year. He gave up four earned runs in that outing and walked seven batters while striking out a season-high seven. Buchholz has had a rough year so far, going 3-5 through 13 starts with a 6.11 ERA and he has given up 92 hits in 70.2 innings.

In his last start, Jarred Cosart picked up his ninth win of the year when he was able to defeat the Texas Rangers on the road. He made it through five innings in that game and gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits while striking out two and walking two. Cosart is now 9-6 on the year with a 4.17 ERA and he has just 67 strikeouts in 105.2 innings of work.

Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz has a hit in all three of his at-bats against Cosart, while Mike Carp is hitless against him in their three matchups.
