Jon Lester will be looking to pick up his third win in a row on Saturday night when the Boston Red Sox face reigning Cy Young award winner Max Scherzer and the Detroit Tigers.

Jon Lester went seven scoreless innings against the Tampa Bay Rays last Sunday and picked up his sixth win of the season. He allowed just four hits in that start and only walked one while striking out a dozen batters. He is now 6-6 on the year with a 3.15 ERA and he has struck out 95 hitters in 80 innings of work.

Miguel Cabrera has always liked facing Lester, going 10-for-21 against him with two doubles, a home run and three RBI. Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis is 11-for-38 against Lester with two doubles, two triples, a home run and five RBI.

Max Scherzer lost for just the second time in his last start when he was defeated by the Seattle Mariners on the road. In 6.2 innings, he allowed four runs in that game and struck out seven while walking no one. He now has a 3.20 ERA through 78.2 innings, but his walk rate is a bit up from last season and he is giving up eight hits per nine innings.

Red Sox DH David Ortiz has eight hits in 17 at-bats against Scherzer in his career with a double, a triple and a home run.
