The American League East is one of the most interesting divisions in all of baseball. Two of the younger teams that are gaining traction in the division are the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays. These two teams will square off on Thursday night from the Rogers Centre with right hander Bud Norris getting the ball for the Orioles and Drew Hutchinson for the Blue Jays.

This will be Norris’ first full season with the Orioles after being acquired from the Houston Astros last year. The Orioles feel like they have a team built to win this season, but will need a better performance from Norris. He is 0-2 with a 4.42 ERA this season, allowing 9 earned runs on 19 hits and 5 walks with 13 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings. In his career against the current roster of Blue Jays, he has allowed 31 hits in 102 at-bats. He has fared well against Colby Rasmus (4-for-25), but hasn’t fared as well against Jose Reyes, Josh Thole and Melky Cabrera.

Hutchinson made 11 starts a year ago for the Blue Jays and went 5-3. In his first 4 starts this season, he has gone 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA. Aside from a start against the New York Yankees, Hutchinson has pitched well. In the New York start, he allowed 6 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings, while he has given up just 2 earned runs in his other 16 2/3 innings.
