On Friday, July 25, the Baltimore Orioles will face the Seattle Mariners for the second game in a four game series. The Orioles will send Kevin Gausman (4-3, 4.04 ERA) to the mound to while the Mariners will send Cy Young hopeful Felix Hernandez (11-2, 2.02 ERA) to the hill.

In the first game of the series, Delmon Young led the Orioles past the Mariners behind his 2-for-4 performance. Young put the Orioles out in front for good when he hit a three run shot in the third inning. The Mariners were never able to recover and Baltimore ended up winning 4-0. Behind their ace, the Mariners are looking to rebound.

Gausman will try to get the Orioles their second win of the series. He allowed five runs on nine hits in his last outing against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday to give him his third loss of the season. Gausman has given up five earned runs three times this season and all three led to a loss. In his other five starts, he never gave up more than one. He’ll look to get back in the win column tonight against a team who is unfamiliar with his pitching.

Robinson Cano is the only current Mariner that has faced Gausman and he was 2-for-3 against him with an RBI.

Felix Hernandez is about as close to a sure thing as you can get in baseball today. However, in his last outing he received a no-decision despite throwing seven innings of two hit, no run baseball. Hernandez has looked fantastic all year and he is 1-0 with a 1.57 ERA in July.
