Both Ubaldo Jimenez and Hiroki Kuroda aim for their first win of 2014 after dropping their first starts of the season. Jimenez came over to Baltimore after posting a 13-9 record with Cleveland last year that earned him a 4-year $50 million contract. It was an auspicious start for Jimenez, pitching 6.0 innings and allowing 4 ER in a 2-6 loss to Boston. Jimenez will aim to limit the long ball against New York after giving up two HR in 26 Red Sox AB's.

Jimenez started 1 game against the Yankees last year but lasted only 4.1 innings, giving up 7 ER including 2 homers. Jimenez may not like the Yankees addition of Carlos Beltran, who has gone deep twice in 11 career appearances against the right-hander and is hitting .364 lifetime. Brian McCann has also hit over .300 against Jimenez (.320) and has a HR among his 25 career at bats.

Kuroda allowed only 3 runs in his first start of the season but it wasn't enough to avoid a 1-3 loss to Houston on April 2nd. It was a dire appearance for the 39-year-old right-hander who is trying to avoid double-digit losses for the fifth straight season pitching on a 1-year, $16 million deal. Kuroda allowed a HR to the first batter he faced this season as Houston leadoff man Dexter Fowler took one to deep center.

Kuroda was 1-2 in 4 starts against Baltimore last season posting an ERA of 3.38. He allowed 23 hits in 24 innings including 5 HR. Chris Davis has hit 2 HR against Kuroda but has also whiffed 7 times in his 18 AB. Matt Wieters (6 for 15) and Nick Markakis (7 for 19) lead the way for an Oriole lineup that has otherwise hit .278 against Kuroda.
