Friday night, the Baltimore Orioles will send Chris Tillman to the mound as they take on the Kansas City Royals and Jeremy Guthrie.  It will be the 9th start for both pitchers. 

Chris Tillman comes into this one with a minor groin injury that could affect his performance.  In his last start, his record fell to 3 - 2 and his ERA rose to 3.97 after allowing 2 runs on 4 hits (including a homer) in 5 innings.  Tillman struck out 3 but walked 5.  Last season, Tillman was 16 - 7 with a 3.71 ERA in 33 starts.

Jeremy Guthrie got torched in his last outing but fortunately he escaped without getting the decision.  In the start, Guthrie surrendered 7 runs on 8 hits (including 3 home runs) in 4.2 innings while striking out 2 without issuing a walk.   His record stayed at 2 – 2 as his ERA shot up to 4.80.  In 2013, Guthrie was 15 – 12 with a 4.04 ERA in 33 starts. 

Last season, Guthrie was undefeated with an ERA of 1.50 in 2 starts against the Orioles.  This season, Guthrie pitched to a no decision against Baltimore after allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 7 innings of work.
