Baltimore Orioles right-hander Miguel Gonzalez will be on the mound for his team on Thursday and will go up against Yordano Ventura and the Kansas City Royals.

In Miguel Gonzalez's start against the Houston Astros last week, he was able to go further in the game than any other start this season, but he still ended up with his third no decision. He pitched seven strong innings in that start and gave up just two runs on six hits while striking out six and walking two. His ERA is the lowest it's been all season at 4.78 and he has struck out 8.1 batters per nine innings.

Gonzalez has done well against Royals' hitters over the years, including holding outfielder Alex Gordon to a .125 batting average with four strikeouts.

Yordano Ventura picked up his second loss of the season when he lost to the Seattle Mariners last Saturday on the road. He went 6.1 innings In the game and allowed three runs on six hits while walking four and striking out three. He still has an outstanding 2.34 ERA through 42.1 innings and he has striking out 44 batters.

No one on the Orioles has an extra-base hit off of Ventura yet, but shortstop J.J. Hardy does have two hits against him in three at-bats. Outfielder Adam Jones is 0-for-4 against Ventura with two strikeouts in his career.
