Friday night, Miguel Gonzalez gets the call for the Baltimore Orioles as they take on Brett Oberholtzer and the Houston Astros.  It will be Gonzalez’s 10th start and 11th appearance as Oberholtzer makes his 9th start.

Brett Oberholtzer makes this start after getting his 1st win of the season in his last outing.  But his record improved to just 1 – 6 with a 5.32 ERA.  In that winning start, Oberholtzer gave up 3 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings with a walk and 8 strikeouts.  The season has been tough for the left-hander and he hasn’t shown much more than he did in his rookie season last year when he posted a record of 4 – 5 with an ERA of 2.76 in 10 starts and 3 relief appearances.

In 2013, Oberholtzer won his only start against the Orioles after pitching 7 scoreless innings and allowing just 3 hits without a walk while striking out 6.    He held Baltimore hitters to a .150 batting average with just 3 hits in20 at-bats.
