On Sunday afternoon, David Price will make his first playoff start for the Detroit Tigers when they go up against third-year starter Miguel Gonzalez and the Baltimore Orioles in Game 3 of the ALDS.

David Price didn't have a great season by his standards this year, but he still comes into the playoffs as one of the best left-handers in the league. He made 34 combined starts for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tigers, going 15-12 with a 3.26 ERA and he led the majors in strikeouts with 271. He went 3-2 in six September starts with a 3.00 ERA.

Price made one start against the Orioles earlier this season and ended up with a no decision after giving up three runs in five innings. Nelson Cruz has gone 7-for-19 against Price in his career with two home runs and four RBI.

In 26 starts for the Orioles this season, Miguel Gonzalez went 10-9 with a 3.23 ERA and a 1.296 WHIP. His FIP was 4.89 because he gave up 8.8 hits per nine innings and he only struck out 6.3 batters per nine innings. Gonzalez had a great September by going 3-2 in five starts with a 1.68 ERA.

Gonzalez started one game against the Tigers this season and ended up taking the loss after giving up seven runs in just 3.1 innings of work. Rajai Davis has done well against the right-hander in his career by going 4-for-12 against him with three home runs and six RBI.
