Saturday afternoon, the Baltimore Orioles will give the ball to Bud Norris as they take on Felix Doubront and the Boston Red Sox.   Norris will be making his 3rd start as Doubront makes his 4th. 

Bud Norris comes into his 3rd start of the year with a 0 – 1 record and an ERA of 3.75.  His 2nd outing was definitely better than his first.  In his first start, he gave up 5 runs and 9 hits in 5 innings.  In his 2nd start, Norris went 7 innings and didn’t allow a run as he gave up 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4.   In 2013, with the Houston Astros and the Orioles, he had a record of 10 – 12 and an ERA of 4.18 in 30 starts and 2 relief appearances.

In 2 starts against the Red Sox in 2013, Norris was 0 – 1 with an ERA of 3.18.  Of the Red Sox, Norris has seen Ryan Roberts the most.  Roberts is 4 of 11 with a homer and 4 RBIs when facing Norris. 

Felix Doubront has had a tough time of it this season with a 1 – 2 record and a 6.75 ERA in 3 starts.  His last start was the first time that he went over 5 innings and he still ended up with the loss.  Last season, Doubront was 11 – 6 with a 4.32 ERA in 27 starts and 2 relief appearances. 

In 2013, Doubront was 1 – 0 in 3 appearances (with 2 starts) against the Orioles.  But he gave up 11 runs on 16 hits in 12.2 innings.  And just this season, in his first start against Baltimore, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.1 innings but he still got the win.  Boston’s Chris Davis will be a tough out for Doubront.  Davis is 8 of 18 with a home run and 3 RBIs when facing Doubront.
