On Sunday afternoon, 23-year-old Kevin Gausman will be making his sixth start of the year when he and the Baltimore Orioles take on veteran Jake Peavy and the Boston Red Sox.

Kevin Gausman had his three-game winning streak snapped in his last start when he was beaten by the Tampa Bay Rays at home. He pitched six innings in that start and gave up five runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out just one. On the year, Gausman is 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA and he has only given up one home run so far this season.

Designated hitter David Ortiz is 1-for-3 against Gausman and is the only player on the Red Sox who has hit a home run off of him. Daniel Nava is 0-for-3 against him with two strikeouts.

Jake Peavy lost his third game in a row and his seventh overall on Monday when he was defeated by the Chicago Cubs. He pitched six innings in that start and allowed two earned runs on five hits while walking two batters and striking out seven. Peavy has already given up 17 home runs this season and his walk rate is the highest that it has been since way back in 2003.

Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis is 5-for-14 against Peavy in his career with a home run and two RBI. Shortstop J.J. Hardy is just 2-for-22 against him with six strikeouts.
