On Saturday night, right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez will try to build off of his best start of the year when he and the Baltimore Orioles take on John Lackey and the Boston Red Sox.

On Monday, Ubaldo Jimenez had his best game in an Orioles uniform and ended up beating the Texas Rangers. He pitched eight innings in that start and allowed just one unearned run on four hits while walking one and striking out seven. Through 17 starts, Jimenez has a 3-8 record with a 4.31 ERA. He has walked 5.1 batters per nine innings, which is the worst walk rate of his career.

Red Sox veteran Jonny Gomes has seven hits in his 18 at-bats against Jimenez with a double, three home runs and eight RBI. Cather A.J. Pierzynski is just 4-for-22 against him with a home run and three strikeouts.

John Lackey won his ninth game of the season on Sunday by defeating the New York Yankees on the road. He pitched five innings in that outing and gave up five runs on six hits while walking one and striking out two. Lackey now has a 9-5 record despite giving up 113 hits in 112 innings of work.

Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis has 21 hits in his 61 at-bats versus Lackey with six doubles, a triple and five RBI. First baseman Chris Davis is 11-for-34 against the right-hander with three doubles and two home runs.
