Saturday night, the Atlanta Braves will rely on the arm of Julio Teheran as they face the Washington Nationals and Stephen Strasburg.  Both pitchers will be seeing their second appearances of the season. Julio Teheran pitched well in his first start of the season, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits in 6 innings of work.  But without any run support, he ended up taking the loss.  Last season, Teheran made the most starts of his career with 30 and came away with a record of 14 – 8 and an ERA of 3.00. 

Even though Teheran is only in his 4th major league season, he has some experience against the Nationals’ lineup.  Denard Span has faced him the most with 15 at-bats.  Span is batting .467 with 7 hits and an RBI in 15 plate appearances.

Stephen Strasburg pitched Opening Day for the Nationals but his outing could have been better.  Although he struck out 10, he gave up 4 runs (all earned) and 5 hits including a home run in just 6 innings of work.    After a tough 1st inning, Strasberg settled down and the Nationals shouldn’t really be concerned about just one start. 

Against the Braves, Strasburg has seen some trouble.  The Braves have hit him well, batting .305 with 40 hits, 23 RBIs and 5 home runs in 131 at-bats.  Atlanta’s Dan Uggla has faced Strasberg 27 times with 11 hits and 8 RBIs but he has struck out 10 times too.
