The two teams that were part of the massive trade several years that brought Mark Teixeira to the Atlanta Braves and sent several young prospects that would become stars with the Texas Rangers will meet on Friday night. The game will be held at Globe Life Park in Arlington and will see a pitching matchup between 2 left-handers, Alex Wood (10-10) and Derek Holland (1-0).

Wood has pitched well for the Braves this season, making 21 starts and 32 overall appearances. He may have a .500 record, but currently has an ERA of 2.90, which ranks as the 9th best number in the National League and best on the team. He has gone 4-3 in his last 10 starts and despite the losses, has allowed 4 earned runs in a start just once. In his 2 starts, which both came against the Miami Marlins, Wood has thrown 15 innings with just 2 earned runs allowed on 11 hits with 17 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Holland had missed the entire 2014 season before getting the start on Sept. 2 after a long rehab stint. He has pitched exceptionally well in those starts, allowing just 12 hits in 14 innings with 1 earned run allowed. He also has 11 strikeouts and has yet to offer a free pass. Both starts came against quality opponents that each has a chance to reach the playoffs in the American League. Holland has limited experience against the Braves, allowing 12 hits in 34 at-bats with a home run to B.J. Upton.
