Jaime Garcia will be making his 2014 debut on Sunday afternoon when the St. Louis Cardinals face Gavin Floyd and the Atlanta Braves.

In his second start of the season, Gavin Floyd picked up his first loss even though he pitched pretty well against the San Francisco Giants. He went 6.1 innings in that game and gave up three earned runs on seven hits while striking out right and walking none. He now has a 2.27 ERA through 13.1 innings and has struck out 13 batters overall.

Shortstop Jhonny Peralta has done well over the years against Floyd, going 12-for-39 against him with two doubles, two home runs and seven strikeouts. Outfielder Matt Holliday is the only other player on the Cardinals who has hit a home run off of Floyd.

Left-handed pitcher Jaime Garcia is coming back from a shoulder issue that has kept him out of baseball for about a year. Before he went down with that injury last season, he has gone 5-2 with a 3.58 ERA. He has given up over nine hits per nine innings in his career, but he also commands the ball well and limits the amount of walks he allows.

Atlanta third baseman Chris Johnson has gone up against Garcia 17 times in his career and has a walk and five hits, including a double and home run. Second baseman Dan Uggla is 3-for-10 against him with two doubles and five strikeouts.
