The Atlanta Braves will face the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday in the second game of a three game series. The Braves will put Aaron Harang on the mound to face Shelby Miller of the Cardinals.
Aaron Harang is fresh off his fourth win of the season putting him at 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA. In his second straight quality start Harang gave up two runs with six hits over six innings. He struck out nine and walked two against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Harang has played well this season and has only given up more than two earned runs once this season. He’ll look to get his fifth win of the season on Saturday when he faces an Atlanta team that is sitting in first place.
Current Atlanta hitters are hitting .261 against Harang in 138 at bats. Jhonny Peralta is 10-for-28 against Harang with two home runs and three RBI. Peter Bourjos also has played well against Harang batting .462 with a double, triple, and home run with four RBI.
Shelby Miller is coming off his fifth win of the season putting his record at 5-2 with a 3.22 ERA. Against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, Miller pitched 5.1 innings giving up two earned runs off four hits. He struck out two and walked four. Even though Miller holds a 5-2 record, he has struggled with his command all season walking 27 batters over 44.2 innings. He’s kept his ERA under control up to now but if he doesn’t get it in order, his ERA is more than likely going to increase in the near future.
Freddie Freeman has played well against Miller going 4-for-9 with a double, home run and a RBI while Justin Upton has had his difficulties only hitting .143 versus Miller with three strikeouts.
