Wednesday afternoon, Julio Teheran (10 – 7, 2.69 ERA) takes the hill for the Atlanta Braves as they face Chris Young (9 – 6, 3.19 ERA) and the Seattle Mariners.  Teheran makes his 24th start as Young makes his 22nd start and 23rd appearance.

Julio Teheran didn’t get any help from his offense and he took the loss in his last start because of that.  In 8 innings of work, Teheran surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits (including a home run) as he walked 3 and struck out 9.  Teheran has been up and down in his last few starts and is 2 -2 in his last 5 outings. Last season, Teheran was 14 – 8 with a 3.20 ERA in 30 starts.

In 2013, Teheran didn’t face the Mariners and he has only seen one of their hitters before.  Logan Morrison is 4 for 10 with 2 RBIS against Teheran.

Chris Young didn’t get the decision in his last outing after allowing 4 runs on 7 hits (including a home run) in 5.1 innings.  He walked 2 while striking out just 1.  Young has pitched well the last few times out but without some offense behind him he hasn’t been able to put some marks in the win column.  He is 4 -3 in his last 10 outings.  He missed most of the 2013 season with a nerve condition in his neck and shoulder.

Young has seen many of the Atlanta hitters before and the Braves are batting .240 against the righty with 12 hits and 2 RBIs in 50 at-bats.
