Wednesday afternoon, Julio Teheran gets the call for the Atlanta Braves as they face Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants.  Both pitchers will be making their 9th starts of the season.

Julio Teheran pitched to a no decision in his last start despite an impressive 8 innings of work where he allowed just a solo homer as he walked 2 while striking out 9.   His record stands at 2 – 2 with an ERA of 1.71.  If he continues pitching well, he should equal or better his results in 2013 when he went 14 – 8 with an ERA of 3.20 in 30 starts.  

Last season, Teheran was 2 - 0 with an ERA of 2.08 in 2 starts against the Giants.  Less than 2 weeks ago, Teheran took a loss to the Giants after giving up 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings of work. 

Madison Bumgarner improved his record to 4 - 3 and lowered his ERA to 2.88 after getting the win in his last start.  In that outing, Bumgarner gave up just a run on 4 hits in 8 innings with a walk and 8 strikeouts.  Last season, Bumgarner went 13 - 9 with a 2.77 ERA in 31 starts.

In 2013, Bumgarner was masterful against the Braves after going 2 – 0 with an ERA of 0.64.  He picked up a win less than 2 weeks ago against the Braves after giving up a run on 3 hits in 6 innings of work.
