Atlanta's David Hale (0-0) has had two solid outings to start the season but it hasn't yet translated to the win column. The right-hander hopes to change that as the Braves travel to Philadelphia to take on Cliff Lee (2-1) and the division rival Phillies. Hale didn't allow a run in his season debut against the Nationals but the Braves gave up his 1-0 lead for a no-decision. Hale allowed 3 ER in his 2nd start but left in a 3-3 game for another no-decision.

He made just 2 starts last year in his rookie campaign but one came against the same Philllies in which he pitched 6 innings, allowing 7 hits and just 1 earned run in a 7-1 Atlanta win. Jimmy Rollins had 3 hits on that September 26th game so Hale needs to focus on limiting the SS who is hitting over .300 so far this year.

Cliff Lee has bounced back nicely after giving up 8 runs to the Rangers in his first start of the year. Lee followed that outing by shutting out the Cubs despite giving up 10 hits but earned the loss last time out even though he  only allowed 3 runs to the Brewers. Lee's 2014 ERA sits at 5.50 but he's had control walking just 1 batter so far.

Lee made 5 starts against the Braves last season, going 3-2 despite posting just a 2.29 ERA. The lefty allowed 1 run or less in three of the starts and only 3 Braves regulars have hit over .250 against Lee in their careers (Ryan Doumit .333, Justin Upton .304, and Chris Johnson .261).
