Alex Wood will be looking to continue his hot start to the season when his Atlanta Braves take on the Philadelphia Phillies, who will be getting their second start out of 23-year-old Jonathan Pettibone.

Alex Wood continued his strong start to the season by beating the Washington Nationals to notch his second win. He was only able to complete five innings, but he let in just one earned run on six hits while striking out eight. He now has a fantastic 1.89 ERA on the season through three starts.

Phillies outfielder Marlon Byrd has faced Wood eight times so far in his career and has three hits and two RBI with a walk. Catcher Carlos Ruiz has also had some success against the lefty by getting three hits, including two doubles, and three RBI in five at-bats.

Jonathan Pettibone made his first start of the season last Saturday against the Miami Marlins and came away with the no decision. He was able to scatter eight hits and only gave up one earned run while striking out five.

Pettibone has only faced the Braves once in his career, so none of their players have too much experience against the big right-hander. In fact, the only player who has an extra-base hit against him is Dan Uggla, who was 1-for-2 with a double. Freddie Freeman struck out twice against Pettibone in three at-bats.
