Thursday afternoon, the Arizona Diamondbacks will give the ball to Wade Miley (7 – 9, 4.46 ERA) as they take on the Washington Nationals and Gio Gonzalez (6 – 9, 4.06 ERA).  It will be the 27th start for Miley and the 21st for Gonzalez.

Gio Gonzalez didn’t get the decision in his last outing despite a fairly decent day of work. In 5 innings of work, Gonzalez allowed 3 runs and 7 hits as he walked 2 and struck out 7.   The no-decision followed 4 losses in 4 starts for the lefty.  He is an unimpressive 3 -5 in his last 10 starts.  Last season, Gonzalez was 11 - 8 with a 3.36 ERA in 32 starts.

In 2013, Gonzalez won his only start against the Diamondbacks after holding them to 2 runs and 9 hits in 6.1 innings. Arizona is batting .295 against Gonzalez with 13 hits and 2 RBIs in 44 at-bats.
