It's been a rough start to the 2014 season for Arizona as they've lost each of their three season series' so far. The D'Backs look to get back on the right track as Trevor Cahill (0-2) takes on San Francisco's Tim Hudson (1-1). Cahill is aiming to avoid double-digit losses for the first time in three years but has already dropped his first two starts of the season. The 26-year-old Cahill is a traditionally slow starter, going just 6-10 in March and April in his career and has posted a 6.30 ERA in just 10 IP this campaign.

The Giants hit Cahill hard last year, sending 14 runners across the plate in 28 innings. In 4 starts Cahill was 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA. The last 3 times the right-hander faced the Giants he's been knocked out before the 6th twice and has allowed 13 runs in 15 innings. The current Giants roster has faced Cahill 172 times while posting a .291 BA led by Angel Pagan's .381 average.

38-year-old Tim Hudson allowed just three hits and 0 ER in his debut with the Giants on April 2nd against this same Diamondbacks team. He looks to go to 2-0 and repeat his efficient first game of throwing 74 of 103 pitches for strikes. The first start of the year answered a lot of questions for Hudson and the Giants after suffering a fractured ankle in 2013 that ended his season on July 24th.

Hudson failed to get out of the 6th in two starts against Arizona last year, going 0-1 with a 7.59 ERA after allowing 9 R in just 10.2 innings. The Diamondbacks have hit just .231 over 117 AB's against Hudson and only 5 players have faced him double-digit times.
