On Friday night, Arizona Diamondbacks starter Josh Collmenter will try to make it three wins in a row when he goes up against Tyson Ross and the San Diego Padres.

Josh Collmenter's last start was back on June 20 when he was able to beat the San Francisco Giants at home. He allowed one run on four hits in five innings of work that day, and he struck out four batters while walking four. Collmenter is 6-4 this season for the Diamondbacks and he is walking far fewer batters than he did in 2013.

Padres veteran Seth Smith has five hits in 11 at-bats against Collmenter in his career with a double, a triple and a home run. Third baseman Chase Headley is 0-for-5 against him with three strikeouts.

Big right-hander Tyson Ross lost his seventh game of the year over the weekend against the Los Angeles Dodgers after giving up three runs (two earned) to them in seven innings of work. He allowed six hits in that outing while striking out five batters and walking just one. He is now 6-7 on the year with a 3.22 ERA and he has only given up nine home runs in 100.2 innings.

Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has gotten five hits off of Ross in 14 at-bats, including a triple and two home runs. Chris Owings is just 1-for-8 against him with two strikeouts.
