On Wednesday night, Brandon McCarthy will be hoping that he can pick up his first win since early May when he and the Arizona Diamondbacks take on Dallas Keuchel and the Houston Astros.

Last Friday, Brandon McCarthy was beaten by the Atlanta Braves and picked up his league-leading eighth loss of the season. The big right-hander didn't pitch too badly in the game, though, going 6.1 innings and giving up three runs while striking out nine and walking one. On the year, McCarthy is 1-8 and has allowed 92 hits in 79 innings of work.

The only player on the Astros who has gone up against McCarthy is Dexter Fowler, who is 1-for-3 against him in his career with a single and a strikeout.

Third-year starter Dallas Keuchel continued his solid season last week when he was able to go six scoreless innings against the Minnesota Twins on the road and he picked up his seventh win of the year. He allowed just five hits in that start and walked two while striking out six. Keuchel has only given up 68 hits in 82.2 innings of work this year and has allowed just four home runs.

Diamondbacks second baseman Aaron Hill has two hits in five at-bats against Keuchel in his career with a walk and an RBI. Paul Goldschmidt is 0-for-4 against him with two strikeouts.
