Arizona's Randall Delgado finds himself back in the starting rotation after seemingly missing out on the 5th spot as Spring Training broke. Delgado had already made one appearance out of the bullpen when starter Patrick Corbin was lost for the season due to Tommy John surgery, pushing Delgado back where he prefers. He makes his first start Friday against Colorado and Juan Nicasio. Delgado was a starter his first three seasons in the big leagues, posting a 5-7 record in 19 starts while compiling a 4.26 ERA.

Delgado made his only two appearances against Colorado last year on back to back starts in September. The teams split the games with Delgado going 1-0 while allowing 2 ER both starts. Delgado has kept the Rockies offense in check allowing just a .216 average in 37 plate appearances.

27-year-old Juan Nicasio enters his 4th season with Colorado and second as a full-time starter. The right-hander started a career high 31 games last year while deriving a 9-9 record. One testament to pitching in Colorado is Nicasio's high ERA which has been above 5.00 in each of the last two seasons. Manager Walt Weiss hopes Nicasio's success in the Spring carries over to the regular season as the pitcher allowed just 7 runs in 22 Cactus League innings.

Nicasio made two starts against Arizona in April of 2013 and one more in September. He posted a record of 1-1 even with an ERA of 7.71 by allowing 10 ER in just 11.2 IP. Arizona has a combined .310 batting average against Nicasio going 18 for 58.
