Free NFL Picks: Cardinals at Buccaneers Week 4 Odds
by Alan Matthews - 9/26/2013
There's not much argument that the three best games on Sunday in the NFL's Week 4 would be Seattle at Houston, Philadelphia at Denver and New England at Atlanta. All six of those teams could be in the playoffs this winter, although the Eagles and Falcons have to improve. However, the point of these previews isn't to look at the NFL's powerhouses every week, and there will be plenty of opportunities to do Seahawks, Broncos and Patriots games the rest of the way. Baseball Predictions: Pirates at Reds Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/26/2013
The last time we saw the Pittsburgh Pirates in the postseason, former Pirate and slow-footed Atlanta Brave Sid Bream was sliding under a throw from some Pittsburgh left fielder named Barry Bonds to score the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on Oct. 14, 1992 at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. It completed the Braves' rally from a 2-0 deficit in the ninth -- clearly Pirates ace starter Doug Drabek shouldn't have started that inning -- and sent Atlanta to the World Series. It was Pittsburgh's third straight NLCS loss. Read More >>
College Basketball Predictions: Who will be the ATS Kings?
by George Monroy - 9/26/2013
Wagering on any college sport is always difficult because of the huge talent gap between teams. NCAA sports tend to have big spreads because college squads are largely comprised of 20-year-old kids that will probably not play professional sports for a living. The reason that there are not 20- to 30-point lines in the NBA is because no matter how bad a team is, every player on the roster is still a professional basketball player. The majority of players on most college teams will be pursuing a career in an entirely different field. Read More >>
Free College Basketball Picks: Florida Gators Futures Odds
by George Monroy - 9/26/2013
The Florida Gators managed to make another deep NCCA Tournament run last season after winning their conference and finishing the year with a 14-4 SEC record. The Gators were able to make a third straight Elite Eight appearance before ultimately being eliminated by the Michigan Wolverines. Read More >>
NHL Predictions: Boston Bruins Futures Odds
by George Monroy - 9/26/2013
The Boston Bruins came within two games of winning last year's Stanley Cup title after holding a 2-1 lead over the eventual winners and reigning champion Chicago Blackhawks. The crushing loss might have been enough to send any team into a tailspin, but the Bruins spent the offseason upgrading the team and adding depth and offensive strength. Read More >>
Free Baseball Picks: Angels at Rangers Odds and Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 9/26/2013
The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers will close out the regular season with a four-game set at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington starting this Thursday night. Game 1 is set to get underway at 8:05 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings. Read More >>
NFL Predictions: 49ers at Rams Week 4 Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/25/2013
I wouldn't say that Thursday night's game in St. Louis is an absolute must-win for the preseason NFC favorite San Francisco 49ers, but it's awfully close. Yes, the Niners have some concerns right now in having lost two straight games. I will say that the Washington Redskins, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots also started 1-2 last year and won their divisions. Read More >>
Free College Football Picks: Wisconsin at Ohio State Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 9/25/2013
The conference season is very young in the Big Ten, yet there is a very good chance that the winner of the Leaders Division of the conference will be decided in Columbus on Saturday night. These are by far the best teams in the weak division - especially with Penn State not eligible for the postseason. That adds an extra layer of intrigue to what has already become a competitive rivalry in recent years. Read More >>
Free NBA Picks: Philadelphia 76ers Futures Odds
by Aaron Smith - 9/25/2013
The Philadelphia 76ers were a playoff team a couple years ago. This franchise appeared to be on the rise with Doug Collins as their head coach as the team established an identity of playing tough defense and scrapping for four quarters. Something changed before last season that really ruined the 2012-13 season for Philadelphia. The 76ers decided to move Andre Iguodala and put all their hopes on the shoulders of oft-injured Andrew Bynum. We all know how that worked out. Bynum never played a game for the team, and now he is a Cleveland Cavalier. Read More >>
Free NHL Picks: Pittsburgh Penguins Futures Odds
by George Monroy - 9/25/2013
Last season the Pittsburgh Penguins were eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the most disappointing way possible-a four-game sweep in the Eastern Conference Finals. The team battled injuries to key players for most of the lockout-shortened season and still managed to make a deep postseason run without it best player, Sidney Crosby, being fully healthy. The Penguins are expected to be one of the top contenders in the league and are projected by many pundits to make the Stanley Cup Finals. Read More >>
Baseball Predictions: Dodgers at Giants Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/25/2013
Back in the spring, this week's Dodgers-Giants series certainly looked like it could be very important for the National League West race. After all, San Francisco was the reigning World Series Champion, and the Dodgers had a team-record payroll of around $217 million that would make the Yankees blush. They were both among the NL pennant favorites. Read More >>
Free Baseball Picks: Dodgers at Giants Odds and Predictions
by Dave Schwab - 9/24/2013
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be looking to build some momentum heading into the postseason when they square off against the NL West-rival San Francisco Giants this Tuesday night at AT&T Park in the first of a three-game set. This series opener is set to get underway at 10:15 p.m. (ET), and it will be available on MLB Extra Innings. Read More >>
NBA Predictions: Orlando Magic Futures Odds
by Aaron Smith - 9/23/2013
The Orlando Magic started the season 12-14 last year, but they managed to win only eight games the rest of the season. Orlando finished 20-62 last year, and they got the second overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. The Magic selected Indiana guard Victor Oladipo with that selection. With that choice, Oladipo instantly became the franchise player for the Magic. Read More >>
Baseball Predictions: Tigers at Twins Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/23/2013
Those are Justin Verlander's previous four seasons and why he became the highest-paid pitcher in baseball, at least until the Dodgers give Clayton Kershaw some $200 million-plus. Unfortunately, it sure seems like all those innings and pitches have caught up to Verlander (13-12, 3.66, 1.33 WHIP, 195 strikeouts). He has had 45 games with at least 120 pitches since 2009, nearly three times as many as the next closest pitcher in the majors. Read More >>
College Basketball Predictions: Louisville Cardinals Futures Odds
by George Monroy - 9/20/2013
The Louisville Cardinals will soon raise the school's first NCAA Men's Basketball Championship banner since 1986. The team has won three national titles and has made 10 Final Four appearances its tournament history. Head coach Rick Pitino and his staff will be looking to be only the second school in the last 20 years to defend its National Championship by going back-to-back. Read More >>
Baseball Predictions: Blue Jays at Red Sox Odds and Picks
by Alan Matthews - 9/20/2013
I'm not saying to bet against Boston for Saturday night's game against Toronto, but be prepared to for at least a few games next week. Why? The Sox have already clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2009. Boston is about to clinch the AL East (might Friday) for the first time since 2007, their last World Series season. They entered Friday's opener with the Jays holding a 2.5-game lead over Oakland and three-game lead over Detroit for the best record in the AL and the playoff top seed; the A's and Tigers do have one game in hand. Read More >>
Baseball Picks: Reds at Pirates Odds and Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 9/20/2013
The Washington Nationals appear to have very much motivated the Cincinnati Reds. The Nats made a bit of a push to catch Cincinnati for the NL's second wild-card spot, but now it seems a lock that Cincinnati will claim one of those two wild cards, with Pittsburgh the other. And I wouldn't want to play the Reds right now. They enter Friday's big series opener at the Pirates having won three straight and nine of 13. Cincinnati has Johnny Cueto back and has perhaps the most unique weapon on baseball in speedster Billy Hamilton. Read More >>
NFL Picks: Giants at Panthers Odds and Week 3 Predictions
by Alan Matthews - 9/19/2013
There are two Desperation Bowls in Week 3 involving 0-2 teams: Cleveland at Minnesota and the New York Giants at Carolina. Only 22 teams since 1990, when the playoff expanded, have made the postseason (around 11.5 percent), but three won the Super Bowl, including the 2007 Giants. So it's their game against the Panthers I will preview. No team that started 0-3 has made the playoffs since 1998. Read More >>
College Football Picks: Michigan State at Notre Dame Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 9/19/2013
This is a showdown between ranked teams, but it is hardly a high-powered showdown at this point. Notre Dame was beaten up by Michigan under the lights and then suffered through a hangover last week that saw them struggle against Purdue, of all teams. Michigan State has elite defensive statistics, but the Spartans have shown nothing remotely resembling a legitimate offense, and they are taking a big step up in class here. Read More >>
College Football Predictions: Arizona State at Stanford Odds
by Trevor Whenham - 9/19/2013
Both these teams come into this important Pac-12 showdown unbeaten, though Arizona State is very lucky to be that way. If it weren't for the bizarre end to the Wisconsin game last week, things could be different, and this game might be quite so compelling. The controversy surrounding that game and the subsequent apology by the officiating crew is just one part of what has been an eventful week for the Sun Devils. Read More >>
