2025 Miami Marlins Predictions with World Series Odds and Season Win Total Picks

Miami fielded one of the worst teams last season, as they went on to post a 62-100 record, finishing last place in the NL East and they had the second worst record in the National League. The Marlins actually finished three games better than their expected record of 59-103, as they finished with a 33-29 record in one-run or extra innings games. Miami finished 33 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East while finishing 27 games out of the final wild card spot.
Second baseman Otto Lopez led the team with a 2.6 WAR last season. Lopez recorded 20 stolen bases while posting a solid .313 OBP. Jake Burger was the only Miami player to hit more than 20 homeruns, as the slugger led the way with 29 homeruns. Jesus Sanchez and Bryan De La Cruz finished with 18. Burger also led the team in RBIs (76), runs (68), and hits (134). Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a nice season with the Marlins before he was traded. He has 13 homeruns and 22 stolen bases through 101 games with the Marlins. Shortstop Xavier Edwards led the team with 31 stolen bases and had a .820 OPS in his 70 games last season. The Marlins finished 27th in runs, 27th in homeruns, 26th in OPS, and 29th in walks.
They were missing their ace Sandy Alcantara, but the Marlins’ pitching staff was just as bad as their lineup. They finished 29th in ERA and 28th in WHIP. Their bullpen finished 22nd in ERA and 16th in WHIP, while their starting rotation finished 29th in both ERA and WHIP. Trevor Rogers was the only Marlins pitcher to record more than 97 innings last season, leading the way with 105.1 innings. Edward Cabrera’s 20 starts were second to Rogers and Cabrera finished with a 4.95 ERA across 96.1 innings of work. Ryan Weathers had the best year out of any Miami pitcher, as he recorded a 3.63 ERA across 86.2 innings while leading the team with seven quality starts and a 2.1 WAR. Tanner Scott was dominant out of the bullpen for Miami, as he finished with 18 saves and a 1.18 ERA before being traded before last summer’s trade deadline.

Miami Marlins Key Additions/Losses
Miami did a lot of work at last year’s trade deadline. So, when the season ended, there was not a lot of movement. The team traded away one of their best bats in Jake Burger to the Texas Rangers for three prospects. Miami would then send Jesus Luzardo to the rival Phillies and then the team traded Vidal Brujan to the Cubs.
As for the additions, the three prospects that came to Miami in the Burger deal were infielders Max Acosta and Echedry Vargas and starting pitcher Brayan Mendoza. They added young bats in Emaarion Boyd and Starlyn Caba in the Luzardo deal while adding Matt Mervis in the Brujan trade. The Marlins also signed pitchers Freddy Tarnok and Cal Quantrill.
Miami Marlins Prospect Outlook
Despite the terrible state of their big-league club, the Miami Marlins only have the 15th ranked farm system in the MLB. They have three prospects ranked inside MLB’s Top 100 Prospects list with little to no star potential to look forward to. Left-handed pitcher Thomas White is the highest rated Marlins prospect and is the 41st ranked prospect in the league. White has a plus fastball with a sweeping slider, but he is not expected to reach the big league level this season. Behind White is shortstop Starlyn Caba. Caba is the 80th ranked prospect in the MLB. Caba showcases an elite glove with potentially elite speed, but he is not expected to reach the MLB for a few years. Finally, right-handed pitcher Noble Meyer rounds out the Marlins Top 100 Prospects as the 84th ranked prospect. Like the two mentioned before, Meyer is far from contributing to the Marlins, but he has one of the best sliders in the Minor Leagues and is a name to remember.
Miami Marlins X-Factors
The Future- Outside of Edwards and Alcantara, there is little to no firepower on this Marlins roster. The Chicago White Sox are likely to rival their historically bad season from last year, but Miami may be right down there with them at the bottom of the league standings. The farm system isn’t in a great spot, either, which likely means the Marlins will fail to be competitive for a few years. They can build around Edwards, but the front office will trade any 27 and older player who contributes for future capital, which means Alcantara’s time in Miami may be coming to an end. It remains to be seen who else can emerge for Miami to bring in some future prospects, but things do not look good for the Marlins.
Miami Marlins Expectations
As mentioned, there is little to no hope right now coming from Miami fans. Their franchise is in complete disarray. With ownership issues, paired with weak draft classes, the Marlins are in for a long season. They will be near the bottom of the league standings and should be expected to trade away some of their veterans like Alcantara, Sanchez, and Quantrill. Edwards and Connor Norby are two great bats to build around, but the Marlins have a lot of holes to fill in the coming years.
Miami Marlins Notable Odds:
Win Total: 63.5

Pennant Winners- +15000

NL Cy Young- Sandy Alcantara +4000
NL Rookie of the Year- Agustin Ramirez +3000
NL Rookie of the Year- Matt Mervis +7000
2025 Miami Marlins Predictions
There are no good future picks for Miami. Alcantara is a Cy Young caliber pitcher. However, with little to no run support, he is likely to rack up a lot of losses for Miami. Aside from Alcantara, the Marlins might have the worst rotation in baseball with their lineup not looking much better. Don’t expect their Rookie of the Year candidates to have enough protection and production from the rest of their lineup. As for the win total, the under is one of the best choices you can make. This is an atrocious roster. Their performance last season would have hit the under on this year’s win total, and the team took big strides backwards. The Marlins will be lucky to win 60 games this season, with 55 being a realistic number for them. Take the under, take the under, take the under on the win total.
